Giveaways

Welcome! You’ve found Durin’s Door, otherwise known as the entry portal for the “A Fortnight of Tolkien” giveaway. Here you will find all of the information regarding the rules and terms of the event as well as details concerning the fantastical prizes. There will be two winners of this event, though I regret to say that it is open to the U.S. only. While we would love to host an international giveaway, and shall host some in the months to come, we are poor birds and as such cannot presently afford international shipping. If you live outside of the U.S. but have a family member or friend with a U.S. address, then feel free to enter! Of course, if those friends happen to belong to the Sackville-Baggins, you may want to rethink sending them your prize. I’ve heard from a reliable source that they steal silverware and everything else of value.

The prizes being offered in this event are as follows:

1 Hobbit Bookmark from Barnes and Noble, reader’s choice of the following:

Finally, a print copy of The Hobbit, reader’s choice of the following (NOTE: If you win this prize, own a Nook, and would prefer an electronic copy, let me know):

Excited to indulge your inner Tolkien nerd? Enter your e-mail address or connect via Facebook with the Rafflecopter form below. There’s only one required entry—the rest are completely optional!

(Below is a list of other "A Fortnight of Tolkien" posts.  They will be hyperlinked upon completion. Comment on them for extra entries!)

  2. I discovered it about six years ago when I was 11. Back then I didn't even know English nor what the literature world had for me, as I live in PR. But something caught my eye and I don't regret knowing it.

    2. Not a probelm. I click the wrong buttons all the time! How nice it is to meet a fellow Tolkien fan from Puerto Rico(that is what PR stands for, right?).

  3. Watched on TV when it first came out. I also read a book about Tolkien. My review on a book about him is on my blog:

  4. I discovered The Hobbit after discovering the film premiered on my birthday - it sounded like a terrific story and so I ran straight to the library so I could read the book first. That and Tumblr, of course. :)

  5. I saw the Lord of the Rings movies first, and absolutely loved them. Afterwards I read the books and then searched for other books written by Tolkien, thus leading to the Hobbit. And the movie was terrific too! :D

  7. It's funny how that works. For me it was the other way around. Then again, it doesn't really matter how you get there!

    1. I seem to recall having to read things like Little House on the Prarie in 8th grade. I actually snuck a copy of The Hobbit into class one time and hid it behind my assigned reading!

  25. I discovered The Hobbit when I was in elementary school in the 1970's. Once a year or so, my teachers would wheel in a reel-to-reel movie projector and we'd watch the animated version of the book.

  26. I discovered The Hobbit when I was in elementary school and my older cousin was reading it. It was a little too advanced at the time for me to read it and I actually have never read it but really would love to and then go see the movie!

  27. I actually discovered it from my mom. Then I went to my school library and they had a couple battered versions of it, so I borrowed the best-looking one. Didn't know I would fall in love with it so!
