Welcome! You’ve found Durin’s Door, otherwise known as the
entry portal for the “A Fortnight of Tolkien” giveaway. Here you will find all
of the information regarding the rules and terms of the event as well as
details concerning the fantastical prizes. There will be two winners of this
event, though I regret to say that it is open to the U.S. only. While we would love to host an international giveaway,
and shall host some in the months to come, we are poor birds and as such cannot
presently afford international shipping. If you live outside of the U.S. but
have a family member or friend with a U.S. address, then feel free to enter! Of
course, if those friends happen to belong to the Sackville-Baggins, you may
want to rethink sending them your prize. I’ve heard from a reliable source that
they steal silverware and everything else of value.
The prizes being offered in this event are as follows:
1 Hobbit Bookmark from Barnes and Noble, reader’s choice of
the following:
Finally, a print copy of The
Hobbit, reader’s choice of the following (NOTE: If you win this prize, own
a Nook, and would prefer an electronic copy, let me know):
Excited to indulge your inner Tolkien nerd? Enter your
e-mail address or connect via Facebook with the Rafflecopter form below. There’s
only one required entry—the rest are completely optional!

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the fandom then! I love meeting new fans.
DeleteI discovered it about six years ago when I was 11. Back then I didn't even know English nor what the literature world had for me, as I live in PR. But something caught my eye and I don't regret knowing it.
ReplyDeleteMy name its aliraluna Haha it seems I clicked something wrong XD
DeleteNot a probelm. I click the wrong buttons all the time! How nice it is to meet a fellow Tolkien fan from Puerto Rico(that is what PR stands for, right?).
DeleteWatched on TV when it first came out. I also read a book about Tolkien. My review on a book about him is on my blog:

I saw the 1977 film first as well. My Grandmother had an old VHS tape with a recording.
DeleteI discovered The Hobbit after discovering the film premiered on my birthday - it sounded like a terrific story and so I ran straight to the library so I could read the book first. That and Tumblr, of course. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! What a nice birthday present! Tumblr is abundant with nerdy awesomeness.
DeleteI saw the Lord of the Rings movies first, and absolutely loved them. Afterwards I read the books and then searched for other books written by Tolkien, thus leading to the Hobbit. And the movie was terrific too! :D
ReplyDeleteI agree! I'm going to be doing a thorough review and analysis of the 2012 film at the end of the event. I'd love to know what you think!
DeleteFirst encountered The Hobbit back in middle school when reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how that works. For me it was the other way around. Then again, it doesn't really matter how you get there!
ReplyDeleteI discovered it about a year ago.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the fandom!
DeleteI only learned about the Hobbit after I married my husband - I haven't read it though but would really like to, so I would definitely LOVE to win a copy! Thanks for the opportunity :)
ReplyDelete~Lynne of www.tworeads.blogspot.com
In that case, I hope you do win! Like I said in my review of the novel, everyone should read it!
DeleteAfter watching the LOTR movies.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you're making the transition to some of Tolkien's books! They make the movies ten times better!
Deletefrom my husband he is the one who told me all about it
ReplyDeleteThere's no greater way to share love than to share the love of books!
DeleteI read the Hobbit in my 8th grade GT class. I loved it as it was so different from what the other classes were reading.
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall having to read things like Little House on the Prarie in 8th grade. I actually snuck a copy of The Hobbit into class one time and hid it behind my assigned reading!
Deletemovie trailer
ReplyDeleteAnd what an epic movie trailer it is!
Deleteooh, would love this as I need to replace my copy as it fell apart.
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling! I have two print copies, one of which was meant as a replacement after the fist one got a little haggard. And now I think I may need to buy a third!
DeleteMy husband told me about it, it's been awhile.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the google friend connect or email follow are working because I don't see them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know! I'll jump on later and see if I can fix them!
Deletein highschool about 20 years ago,lol
ReplyDeleteI first discovered The Hobbit when married to my first sweetheart in England:) We both enjoyed Tolkien so very much and Archie taught me all about the wonderful books, especially The Hobbit:) Fond memories, thank you for the share.
ReplyDeleteI discovered the Hobbit when I was browsing in my school's library and stumbled upon it, so I checked it out and loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love to read and read the set about 20 years ago!!!
ReplyDeleteI read the Hobbit when I was younger and had never heard of LOTR until they came out but have watched them all and own them. Would love to win this so I can reread it again and let my hubby read it as he had never heard of it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of the hobbit? That's verging on blasphemy.
DeleteI first discovered The Hobbit about 20 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter - Loved it then & love it still!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you & Thanks so much for the giveaway!!
I first discovered the Hobbit a few years before the first Lord of the Rings movie came out. I have read it twice and plan on reading it again, it was very good, I also loved the movie!
ReplyDeleteIn school
ReplyDeleteI read it in 5th grade! It was one of my favorite books along with Dapple Grey!
ReplyDeleteAt birth - my mother is an avid fan and I grew up on the cartoon and then later the book....which of course is much better
ReplyDeleteThe cartoon is sort of like that embarrassing relative that everyone tries to forget, isn't it?
DeleteI discovered The Hobbit when I was in elementary school in the 1970's. Once a year or so, my teachers would wheel in a reel-to-reel movie projector and we'd watch the animated version of the book.
ReplyDeleteI discovered The Hobbit when I was in elementary school and my older cousin was reading it. It was a little too advanced at the time for me to read it and I actually have never read it but really would love to and then go see the movie!
ReplyDeleteI actually discovered it from my mom. Then I went to my school library and they had a couple battered versions of it, so I borrowed the best-looking one. Didn't know I would fall in love with it so!
ReplyDeletechrysrawr@yahoo.com
I do the same thing when I go to the library--I pick the nicest binding. I'm a tad OCD about book bindings.
DeleteI read it in middle school, probably.
ReplyDeleteI love the book series and the movie was great!
ReplyDeleteJust last year!
ReplyDeleteMy dad read it to me when I was little! Good memories! haha
ReplyDeleteI wish one of my parents had read it to me!
DeleteIn high school!
ReplyDeleteI had heard about it years ago, but just more recently learned more about it when the movie came out.
ReplyDeletejust recently seeing previews for the movie
